kfzsteuer-rechner.online was built for one purpose: to give German vehicle owners a fast, free, and independent way to estimate their annual Kfz-Steuer — without ads for insurance products or pressure to sign up.

Every formula on this site is derived directly from the Kraftfahrzeugsteuergesetz (KraftStG), the German vehicle tax act, and cross-checked against the official calculation logic used by the Bundesministerium der Finanzen (BMF). Where the law leaves room for interpretation, we say so explicitly rather than guessing.

We are not a tax office, a law firm, or a government body. The results shown are non-binding estimates intended to help you plan ahead; your legally binding tax assessment always comes from your local Hauptzollamt.

Why we built this

Official tools for calculating German vehicle tax exist, but they're often buried in bureaucratic language or scattered across multiple ministry pages. We wanted one clear, mobile-friendly place to check all four vehicle types at once.
